Education & Experience

Sierra Aguilar is a graduate of Dallas Theological Seminary with a Master’s degree in Biblical Counseling (MABC). She completed her undergraduate degree in Nutritional Sciences at Texas A&M University in 2013. Sierra spent several years working as a medical assistant and as well as serving with a para-church organization before pursuing vocational counseling. Sierra’s passion for mental health grew out of her time with patients, ministry staff and students. Her extensive knowledge about the intersection of mental and medical health has enabled Sierra to assess her clients holistically and individualize her approaches.

Sierra believes counseling is a trustworthy place that helps people transform through both their heartbreaks and joys. Change happens in the context of relationship, and Sierra considers it a privilege to walk alongside each client as they practice engaging their circumstances and relationships from places of peace, strength, resilience and hope.

Interests & Specialties

Sierra offers individual counseling to women facing issues related to anxiety, depression, sexual wholeness, maternal mental health, life transitions, and burnout prevention/care. Sierra also offers pre-marital and marital counseling. Sierra is trained by Postpartum Support International for mothers with perinatal mood disorders. She also incorporates other models and techniques based on each client’s individual needs and values the opportunity to work with clients of all faiths and backgrounds.

Sierra and her husband Josh enjoy spending time with their two children. They currently serve as small group leaders at Grace Bible Church. In her free time, Sierra enjoys art projects, kayaking, and game nights with friends. Sierra is under the supervision of Dr. Erik Salwen, LPC-S (#68000).
